Build a home for Anton & Tharshika

DSC0329.jpg

Anton, his wife Tharshika, and their young son Dharon live in a makeshift hut built from tin sheets, coconut leaves, and pieces of sari cloth. It’s the only shelter they could afford after purchasing a small plot of land. Without the means to rent a home or build a proper house, they face the harsh realities of weather, insecurity, and daily hardship.

Anton works as a painter, but his job is unstable. On average, he earns just £50 a month—barely enough to put food on the table, let alone save for building materials or  to build a home. Despite their best efforts, the family cannot break free from the cycle of poverty on their own. Their greatest dream is to build a small, solid concrete home—a place where their son Dharon can grow up safely, shielded from rain, wind, and danger. But this dream remains painfully out of reach without help.

£6,600 will provide a family in Jaffna, Sri Lanka with the materials they need to build a house. Sponsored families will work alongside a local contractor to construct a basic home. They are also taught how to maintain their house to ensure sustainability.
